I love working out how things work and so when my PT6A started to play up, I decided that it would be fantastic to have a go at repairing it myself. I already knew where I could get some PT6A parts and so all I had to do was to find a manual and I could get going. Of course, it was not as simple as that in reality as it was tricky to work out what the problem was, especially as I did not know my PT6 A fuel nozzles from my PT6A hot section. However, it has been a fantastic challenge for me and I have decided that I actually am enjoying it. I did think I was a bit old to start learning something new like this but once I got in to it, I found that it went really well and I was picking things up quickly. It was addictive too and I found myself staying up late every night and waking early to get back to it. The novelty has worn off a little now, or perhaps I am just feeling tired, but I am sleeping more hours but still pouring over my books to get a good idea how everything is working and checking if I have fixed everything that needs to be.
